About Shiosai

Shiosai exterior

"Shiosai (潮彩)" is a guesthouse located in the alleys of a former fishing village in Setoda, Onomichi City, Hiroshima. The Setoda Strait stretches before it, and from the second-floor window, you can watch the golden sunset paint the sea.

Right next to the inn stands the birthplace of world-renowned Japanese painter Ikuo Hirayama. Throughout his life, Hirayama continued to paint the landscapes of his hometown Setoda, guided by his words: "Raised amid the tides of Seto, I walk my own path."

Gold, blue, green — the golden hue of a sea bathed in sunset, the deep indigo of the Setoda Strait, the layered green ridgelines of the islands. These three colors run through Hirayama's works, and the name "Shiosai" itself is born from this changing play of light and color.

Owner Reo Fujita's wish in opening a guesthouse at this special place is to share the memories and beauty of Setoda with all who visit. The inn is currently in preparation for opening.

Three Colors

Gold

The golden hue of sunset coloring the Setoda Strait. Ever-changing light transforms the sea into a living painting.

Blue

The deep indigo of the Setoda Strait. Calm yet vast, reflecting the grandeur of the open sea.

Green

Layered ridgelines of island greenery. The silent, powerful landscape of Shimanami's mountains and islands.
